Founders of Crossroad Fellowship – Pastor Meafua (Mac) & First Lady Raquel Poumele

Crossroad Fellowship was founded in March 2020 by Pastor Meafua Vaega (Mac) Poumele and his beloved wife, First Lady Raquel Rose Poumele. Together, they have faithfully served their community under the covering of Grace International, bringing the light of Christ through passionate ministry and deep love for God’s people.

Pastor Meafua Vaega (Mac) Poumele

Pastor Meafua (Mac) Poumele was born on November 27, 1964, in Nu’uuli, a village on the island of American Samoa, to Vaega and Teria Poumele. He is one of six siblings and was raised with a strong cultural foundation rooted in reverence for God and the importance of family. From an early age, Meafua was taught to honor the Lord and prioritize spiritual values.

In 1972, Pastor Meafua and his two sisters moved to the United States, joining their parents in San Francisco. The family later relocated to Stockton, and then to San Diego in 1974, where they stayed with his aunt and uncle, Tolufale and Itagia Moa, before establishing their own home. By 1976, the entire Poumele family was reunited in San Diego.

Growing up, Pastor Meafua and his family became members of the First Samoan Congregational Church on 45th Street in San Diego under the late Reverend Suitonu. He attended Chollas Elementary, Gompers Middle School, and later Lincoln High School. After moving to National City, he attended Sweetwater High School.

In 1993, Pastor Meafua gave his life to Christ and fully surrendered to God’s calling. He joined Praise Chapel under Pastor Tommy Miller, where he quickly became active in ministry—first as a prayer team member, then as Head Usher. His passion for missions grew as he traveled with Pastor Miller to various countries including Mexico, Fiji, Africa, the Philippines, and American Samoa, confirming his calling to serve in God’s Kingdom.

First Lady Raquel Rose Poumele

Raquel Rose Poumele was born on June 29, 1975, in San Diego, California, to Ruben and Angela Salcido. She is a twin (Elodia Miner) and one of five siblings. In 1993, Raquel gave her life to the Lord and began serving at Praise Chapel under Pastor T. Miller. She faithfully ministered as a worship team percussionist for over 23 years, serving alongside her future husband.

Raquel graduated from Crawford High School in 1994. She met Meafua in 1994, and their shared faith and ministry goals brought them together. They were united in marriage on April 18, 1998. God blessed them with two beautiful daughters:

  • Angela Teria Poumele, born March 16, 2000
  • Elodia Tolufale Poumele, born September 8, 2006

The Birth of Crossroad Fellowship

In 2007, Pastor Meafua and Raquel felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to serve at Grace Church in Spring Valley, California, under Pastors Zac and Shanell Morrison of Grace International. Over time, they were entrusted with greater responsibilities and eventually served as Assistant Pastors.

In 2020, following much prayer and spiritual confirmation, they launched Crossroad Fellowship from their own backyard in Spring Valley, with about 20–25 initial members. By 2021, God provided a building in the heart of Lemon Grove, where they established their current church home and assumed the role of Senior Pastors.

Today, Pastor Meafua and First Lady Raquel Poumele continue to lead Crossroad Fellowship Grace International with humility, vision, and a deep commitment to spreading the Gospel and equipping believers to walk in their divine purpose.
